Former "American Idol" contestant Brittany Kerr sparked controversy last week when she was spotted making out and hooking up with supposedly "boozed-up" married country singer Jason Aldean. Now the young blonde beauty has issued an official apology, contributing her seedy actions to a complete "lapse of judgment." Supposedly Kerr had no idea at the time that Aldean was actually married (if that's the case, why a "lapse of judgment?" hmmm...).

Kerr recently released this statement: "The actions I portrayed recently were not a representation of my true character, but a lapse in judgment on my part. I would like to sincerely apologize to everyone that has been affected by this, including my friends and family."

Kerr and 35-year-old Aldean were spotted getting flirty in a popular Sunset Strip bar last week. Apparently Aldean blames it all on the alcohol - he ended up kissing Kerr in an act of "drunken foolishness." TMZ insiders managed to snap a few pics of the infidelity (Aldean has been married to his high school sweetheart Jessica Ussery since 2001, they have two daughters together). The photos were posted online over the weekend, and Kerr and Aldean have been met with harsh criticism and ridicule since the public ousting.

Apparently Kerr was getting so many threats and abuse on her Twitter page from Aldean/Ussery supporters that she recently had to delete her account.

Aldean posted his own apology on his personal Facebook page following the release of the shady photos:

"I wanted to talk to you directly, so you were hearing the truth from me and not just reading allegations made about my personal life on gossip web sites. The truth is that I screwed up. I had too much to drink, let the party get out of hand and acted inappropriately at a bar.

I left alone, caught the bus to our next show and that's the end of the story. I ultimately ended up embarrassing my family and myself. I'm not perfect, and I'm sorry for disappointing you guys. I really appreciate being able to work through this privately with my family and for all your continued support."

So what do fans think - is it fair that Kerr is receiving so much verbal abuse considering she "didn't know" Aldean was married? And should Ussery forgive Aldean? Voice your thoughts in the comments section below.
