19-year-old Ukrainian Anastasiya 'Fukkacumi' Shpagina has been lauded as the ultimate "Real-Life Anime Girl" - with her dainty frame, silky long hair, smooth complexion, and big pouty eyes, she looks exactly like one of the characters taken from the popular Japanese animated cartoons. But what happens when it seems reality-based-on-fantasy is taken too far - or when cosmetic treatments and trends are taken to the extremes (Tokyo's highly-controversial bagel-head phenomenon, for example)? Makeup and hair products are one thing, but now the young Shpagina is contemplating undergoing eye surgery to enhance her Anime-physical features. So the question remains - are some "beauty" transformations getting a little too out-of-hand?
Shpagina's Anime alter-ego, the Japanese moniker Fukkacumi, seems to have taken over her entire being. Already weighing-in at a meager 85-pounds, rumors have it that Shpagina would like to lose additional weight in order to look more like her Anime fantasy character. Not only that, but supposedly she has looked into eye surgery and other cosmetic transformations to augment her real-life Anime look. Currently, her dramatic physical transformation relies only on some killer makeup skills - many critics hope that it remains that way.

"Fukkacumi's" worldwide fame comes on the heels of another Japanese transformative look - the bagel-head trend. Check it out - the Tokyo "fashion trend" was featured on a recent episode of National Geographic's "Taboo":
A quick lesson on the bagel-head trend: approximately 13.5 oz. of saline are injected into the forehead to create a large blob. The saline-administrator then places his/her thumb into the large mass to create the indentation. The procedure takes two hours and the bagel head look last less than a day (about 16 hours). The look was pioneered by Japanese artist Keroppy and has been deemed "one of the newest, biggest trends in Japan's body modification art scene" by many Western news outlets (although many Japanese claim the trend isn't even that popular in their fashion culture).
Many medical experts have deemed the bagel-head look as dangerous - a saline solution too compacted may lead to bacterial infection and even permanent stretching of the skin.

While Shpagina's talk of surgery has little to do with the bagel-head trend, the fact that she is a young 19-year-old ready to make such a drastic permanent physical change worries many. Critics claim that such "easy" and acceptable (yet totally extreme) "beauty transformations" lauded in pop culture and the media may negatively impact some of today's younger generation - those like Shpagina. So, what do fans think on the open debate?
