Sometimes people regret the tattoo or tattoo that they ink onto their bodies, but we all know that certain procedures make the permanent art less of a commitment than it has to be. Yes, with the use of lasers, you can have your unwanted tattoo burned off for a hefty price, both in money and pain - but is there a simpler, cheaper way? Well, PhD student Alec Falkenham of Dalhousie University in Halifax is developing a tattoo removal cream this is much less painful and even cheaper than laser procedures!

This topical cream is being developed to go after the ink-filled cells of your skin that make these tattoos visible, according to CBC News. These cells are called macrophages and Falkenham's cream would essentially replace these tattooed cells by consuming the older ones, thus getting rid of the body art. Luckily for us, the PhD student has explained the process a bit better.

"When comparing it to laser-based tattoo removal, in which you see the burns, the scarring, the blisters, in this case, we've designed a drug that doesn't really have much off-target effect," Falkenham explained, according to The Mary Sue (via UPROXX). "We're not targeting any of the normal skin cells, so you won't see a lot of inflammation. In fact, based on the process that we're actually using, we don't think there will be any inflammation at all and it would actually be anti-inflammatory."

According to Geek.com, the cream will cost about $0.04 per square centimeter, which is pretty cheap. The cream has only been tested on tattooed pig ears so far.
