Eric Dane, star of the popular ABC television show "Grey's Anatomy," has filed a lawsuit against neighbor Billy Corgan to sue the Smashing Pumpkins front man over a fallen tree from his property which crashed into Dane's house, almost killing his pregnant wife Rebecca Gayheart.
According to the lawsuit filed by Dane, the eucalyptus tree from Corgan's yard smashed into his house during a storm last year, setting off the sprinkler system and snapping the nearby power lines. Then-pregnant wife and fellow actress Gayheart was supposedly home at the time with the couple's 20-month-old daughter, and was forced to flee the premises to find safety. Gayheart and her young daughter were able to escape with no harm done.
The L.A. County Superior Court received a claim made by Dane, stating that the home was consequently flooded and "surrounded by live high voltage wires, without the benefit of any light whatsoever."
The Danes insist that Corgan had been warned that some of the trees in his yard were shaky and dangerous before the incident occurred. Still, he did not remove the trees in-question. While Corgan claims such accusations are totally "untrue," he was concerned when he found out what had happened: "I was horrified when I learned about the tree falling what was a massive storm, a storm with winds strong enough to uproot a 50ft tree by its base! Thankfully no one was injured," he told TMZ.
Dane and Gayheart are suing for nuisance, negligence, and injunctive relief and are reportedly seeking unspecified damages from Corgan in the court case.
