Republican candidate Mitt Romney was recently accused of using a cheat sheet for his successful debate against President Barack Obama after a video surfaced that showed a what looked like a white sheet of paper on his podium. If you look closely at the video, you will also notice that Romney picked up the white "cheat sheet" to wipe his face at the end of the debate, proving that it is not a cheat sheet. It was simply a handkerchief.
A spokesperson confirmed that "the thing Romney pulled out of his pocket was actually a handkerchief," Huffington Post reported.
Over 67 million tuned in to watch the first presidential debate on October 3, 2012 and many viewers were surprised to see Romney's strong performance. It is not surprising to see people trying to downplay his performance.
Here are some reactions to the ridiculous accusation.
"Help yourself. I swear the more days we get behind us the more crap the Democrats are going to come up with to make him look bad. By the time this debate is a week old, there is no telling what will be said. This is the beginning of the nastiness."
"I think he did so well that some people, like Obama supporters, are looking for any way to knock Romney down."
"I've seen the video, it looks like a hankie or pocket square to me."
