Fans of the CW's Arrow and The Flash will want to hear this latest bit of news, and it's a doozy. The network is apparently developing a spinoff series that would feature recurring characters from both shows in some sort of "superhero team-up," according to Deadline.

Here's what we know so far based on the report. Brandon Routh would star as Ray Palmer aka The A.T.O.M. alongside Caity Lotz, who played Sara Lance aka The Canary on Arrow. From The Flash, the spinoff would take Wenworth Miller, who plays Leonard Snart aka Captain Cold, and Victor Garber, who plays Martin Stein, aka one half of FIrestorm.

[WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD]

Sara Lance died in the Season 3 premiere of Arrow, so it's unclear how she would appear in this spinoff series.

Deadline also reports the spinoff would feature three "major" DC Comics characters that have never appeared on a television series to this point. The site does not state this, but we're guessing they mean live action series rather than animated.

Arrow and Flash executive producers Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, and Andrew Kreisberg are all behind the project, which could go straight to series rather than go through the standard pilot process.

This would certainly be an interesting idea for a series, as it would provide a place for both Arrow and Flash to send their recurring characters so that the two main series do not get too crowded. It's also a truly ambitious idea, and one that could be really unique if pulled off correctly.

What do you think of this spinoff idea? Let us know in the comments section.
