Alexis Wright - a fitness instructor at a Zumba studio in the upscale tourist town of Kennebunk, Maine - has been accused of running a secret prostitution business when not busy at work teaching the popular dance exercise. Wright allegedly prostituted herself right from the studio and kept the business under wraps for at least a year and a half -  even secretly filming her clients during the elicit encounters without their knowing it. The 29-year-old also kept detailed written accounts of all her services, suggesting that she made over a whopping $150,000 just from prostitution along.

Wright (originally from Wells, ME) appeared in court on Tuesday and was charged with 109 counts including prostitution and tax evasion. 57-year-old Mark Strong was also charged with 59 counts for helping Wright run the illegal prostitution services as her alleged business partner. Both barely spoke during the court proceedings other than to say, "not guilty."

Strong's lawyer Daniel Lilley appeared before Justice Nancy Mills on Tuesday, claiming that his client loaned money to Wright simply believing that her Zumba studio was a good business venture. Both individuals were indicted by a York County grand jury on Oct. 3.

Detailed court documents allege that Wright would have sex with her clients while secretly taping the entire encounter with equipment set up by Strong. Both then managed to collect tens of thousands of dollars in payments. Strong is also accused of "controlling, managing, supervising, or otherwise operating" the prostitution business alongside Wright. Prosecutors have also obtained a "meticulous" list of alleged clients and illicit videos, as well as bank, postal and phone records linking both Wright and Strong to the prostitution charges.

While Wright was earning this illegal income, she also allegedly received thousands of dollars in public assistance from the state, claiming that she was only making as little as $6,000 a year.

According to the "Bangor Daily News," Wright and Strong were charged with running a prostitution business after anonymous tip-offs led police to the scandal occurring after hours at the Pura Vida studio.

Police have issued summonses to Wright's alleged 150 customers. Some are expected to appear in court next week.
