Stevie Nicks made waves this week when she spoke out about Nicki Minaj and said she wanted to "strange her to death," but the Fleetwood Mac singer has apologized for her comments.

Nicks made the harsh remarks during an interview promoting her new documentary, "In Your Dreams." When the subject of the feud between Minaj and her fellow "American Idol" judge Mariah Carey came up, Nicks let it rip.
"How dare this little girl!" Nicks said of Minaj's tirade against Carey. "If I had been Mariah I would have walked over to Nicki and strangled her to death right there. I would have killed her in front of all those people and had to go to jail for it."

The comments drew intensely negative feedback, and now Nicks has issued a heartfelt apology to The New York Daily News.

"I want to apologize for my remarks about Nicki Minaj's behavior toward Mariah Carey which I said during a long and exhausting day of interviews," Nicks said in a statement to The Daily News. "It was very out of character for me and I deeply regret what I said. I feel very protective toward Mariah Carey, who has gone through many difficulties in her life, and I spoke without thinking. I think all artists should be respectful toward one another and that includes me. I am truly sorry."

The "American Idol" feud went viral after a video of the divas arguing made it to the Internet. Things turned darker when Carey decided she had to expand her security detail because of physically threatening remarks Minaj made on set.

According to Barbara Walters, who said she spoke to Carey about the episode, Minaj reportedly said, "If I had a gun, I would shoot the b-tch."
