Dutch photographer Adri De Visser managed to capture a remarkable sight in nature at Uganda's Queen Elizabeth National Park during a recent exploration- a ravenous lion adopting and taking under its "paw" a meager baby antelope. Visser claims that after the lioness ate the adorable little antelope's mother, she felt pity on her prey and began cuddling with the tiny creature before carrying her new companion off into the wilderness.

Visser, 50, initially arrived at the nature scene to capture some shots of a few lions feeding on their kill. The photographer told Britain's "Daily Mail" - "When I got there, I saw the lionesses feeding on a Uganda kob's (antelope's) carcass. I followed them for a while and they went up a tree to rest from the sun," he said. "I was watching them when I heard a noise. It was the kob's fawn that had been hiding in the long grass." The baby antelope explored the lioness for about 45-minutes, without the beautiful beast making one hostile or threatening move. According to Visser, the lioness wasn't even bothered when the kob crawled between her legs, "like it was trying to get milk."
A park ranger's motorcycle arrived at the scene and the sound of its engine ultimately scared the wild animals away, "So the lioness picked the fawn up by the neck and carried it off like one of its own... We heard from a group of tourists that the fawn was later spotted alive and well," Visser of Caters News Agency mused.
Hopefully the odd (yet amazing and beautiful) new mother/child duo make it out there together in the wilderness!
