'Captain Marvel': Are Katheryn Winnick, Katee Sackhoff Vying For Carol Danvers Role If Angelina Jolie Directs? [WATCH]

The rumor mill keeps dishing out names as the Marvel Cinematic Universe continues its plan for its next Phase 3 superhero flicks. With Angelina Jolie rumored to be in talks to direct Captain Marvel, are Katheryn Winnick and Katee Sackhoff vying for the lead role of Carol Danvers?

As we previously mentioned, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige made his epic announcement unveiling of Phase 3's upcoming superhero flicks. Captain Marvel is just part of the lineup, which already includes Black Panther and Captain America: Civil War. In the Marvel Universe, Captain Marvel (Danvers) is a flying super heroine with cosmic powers and the inspiration for Kamala Khan to become Ms. Marvel.

We also mentioned, Marvel Studios was reportedly in talks with the Tomb Raider action star. If the speculation is supposedly true, Marvel could pay up to $20 million for the Girl, Interrupted actress to direct their first female-led superhero film. What we do know is that Jolie will step back behind the cameras again in By the Sea, which she has also written and will star her husband, Brad Pitt.

In a video interview with Movie Web, the Vikings actress would be thrilled to play the role, "I would love to do that! I'm such a big fan of those movies and comic books! It would be a dream come true. And I love kicking butt!"

Winnick adds, "I haven't heard much about it but it would be something I would be interested in for sure."

And as for fan favorite Katee Sackhoff, Winnick jokingly states, "Are you asking for a standoff? Hey...we can fight it out! We can see who's the best person for the job! [Laughs]"

We mentioned before, Winnick will show up in an upcoming episode of Person of Interest as a relentless bounty hunter. Could she be an agent working for Samaritan?
