Taryn Manning Arrested: Actress Assaults Makeup Artist and Longtime Friend Hollian Hartman in NYC

Actress/Singer Taryn Manning allegedly assaulted her makeup artist and longtime friend Hollian Hartman in NYC on Thursday (Oct. 11). The 33-year-old "8 Mile" star has been order to stay away from her assistant after supposedly choking and punching her at the Dream Downtown Hotel in Chelsea, leaving the 23-year-old battered and bruised all over her head and body.

The catfight supposedly started after the two women spent an exhausting day traveling around to release Manning's new music video, according to her attorney Joseph Tacopina. Even so, Tacopina told People magazine that the altercation has been thrown out-of-proportion by the media - "They'd been together every waking minute and they got on each other's nerves and had a little incident. It was a minor physical incident." 

The publicized criminal complaint reports that Manning allegedly punched, scratched, and kicked Hartman in the face at approximately 5 a.m. on Thursday at a swanky room at the Dream Downtown Hotel. She also scratched Hartman's face and neck and choked her - ultimately slamming her head against the floor and wall.  Manning was booked later that night.

Manning was arraigned on Friday and released on bail, charged with misdemeanor assault and choking. Tacopina told reporters: "I expect it to be resolved based on conversation I had with [Holly Hartman]... She's part of the Manning family. She stays with the mother and Taryn in California." Although it is not known if alcohol was involved, Tacopina insists things will work out between the two gal pals in the end - "There are some personal issues that they've had; disagreements that friends who spend every waking moment together have on occasion."

The District Attorney will decide later whether or not to drop the charges, as it looks like Hartman is not expected to press any.
