Amanda Todd's suicide death shocked the nation and brought light to a growing bullying problem among young people. Cyber-bullying on social media websites like Twitter, Facebook, website comments and more is an issue not only for teens, but for people of all ages. Hollywood celebrities and people in the spotlight constantly have negative messages spit on them via social media. Country singer Leann Rimes went into a 30 day treatment to help solve issues that were caused by the constant bullying she received.

The Canadian teen, Amanda Todd, was bullied by a cyber bully and peers in school until she could take it no longer. In a Youtube video, Todd shared her tragic story on cue cards and one card read, "everyday I think why am I still here?"

Todd tried to escape her cyber bully with no success. He ended up finding her online even after she moved to different schools three times. The stranger and stalker did not leave the teenager alone since she first met him over a webcam chat in 7th grade. He flattered her calling her beautiful and got her to flash her chest. He caught that on photo and since then it followed her everywhere she went.

Todd's mother Carol explained, "The Internet stalker she flashed kept stalking her," said Carol. "Every time she moved schools he would go undercover and become a Facebook friend. What the guy did was he went online to the kids who went to (the new school) and said that he was going to be a new student - that he was starting school the following week and that he wanted some friends and could they friend him on Facebook."

"He eventually gathered people's names and sent Amanda's video to her new school."

Parents, teachers, Facebook friends all got the video and photos and Amanda was soon labeled "porn star."

"It increased her anxiety and she couldn't go to class," Carol said.

Amanda Todd attempted suicide twice before without success and the third time she tragically succeeded. She was found dead last Wednesday night.

Her mother Carol Todd hopes that her daughter's Youtube video could be a message to encourage other people to help stop bullying.

She said, "Amanda was a very caring individual. She would help others who needed help," Carol told The Vancouver Sun during an exclusive interview Friday at her home, where she was surrounded by friends and family. "One of Amanda's goals was to get her message out there and have it used as a learning tool for others."

"I have lost one child, but know she wanted her story to save 1,000 more."

Amanda Todd was 15 when she passed away. Friends and peers have poured messages of condolences but Carol is not even sure who are true friends.
