The Brousseau family of Portland, Connecticut adopted their rescue dog Duke about six years ago - the pup has always been a great addition to the fam, but now he is considered a hero after saving his owner's 9-week-old baby girl Sunday evening. Infant daughter Harper stopped breathing during the night, and if it wasn't for Duke's erratic wakeup call, she might not still be alive today.

According to Jenna Brousseau and her husband, Duke jumped on their bed late Sunday night and started shaking uncontrollably, ultimately waking the couple up. The duo was immediately alarmed, because Jenna told WFSB news, "[Duke] is insanely obedient, so this was extremely bizarre."

The Brousseaus then got up to check on baby Harper, and it turns out she had stopped breathing in her sleep. The husband hurried to call 911, and paramedics arrived at the home and were able to revive little Harper. She was transported to the hospital and is currently in stable condition. The family now considers Duke their hero: "If Duke hadn't been so scared, we would have just gone to sleep. He's the perfect dog, he was meant, meant to be ours." Jenna said.

Duke the dog is indeed a true hero, being able to recognize that something was wrong with baby Harper and smart enough to have the instinct to make his owners aware of the dangerous situation. Surely he's getting some extravagant puppy love from the thankful Brousseau clan.
