Rihanna Is Getting Her Own Movie

Filmmaker Peter Berg reportedly has a number of projects in the works from his new production company Film 45. Deadline reports that one of the first is a Rihanna documentary, which will present "unfiltered look into Rihanna's life and how she's ascended to become a global icon." According to Berg, the Rihanna movie won't have much in common with what has become the typical celebrity musician documentary like Beyonce's Life Is But A Dream, Justin Bieber's Never Say Never, or Katy Perry: Part Of Me. Rather, he says he's interested in exploring the life of "a young artist at the top of her professional field."

Deadline describes the Rihanna film as a "contemporary take on the 1967 Bob Dylan rock doc Dont Look Back, " and Berg adds that the film will be "much more a character study than a music film." Film 45 specializes in "non-scripted and branded entertainment" through "cinema veritae," as Berg says. "We are telling authentic, soulful stories," he adds, suggesting that the Rihanna documentary will be complex and multidimensional story.

Back in 2012, Berg directed Battleship starring Alexander Skarsgard, Taylor Kitsch, Brooklyn Decker, Liam Neeson, and Rihanna in her acting debut. Berg must have been impressed with Rihanna's movie star potential and decided she was the perfect subject to carry a full-length documentary. It's hard to imagine what kind of new "unfiltered" look at Rihanna's life the film will give that fans can't already find on her notoriously naked Instagram feed, but it might be too early to speculate what the film might reveal.

Given Rihanna's reported romantic ties to award-winner and Hollywood icon Leonardo DiCaprio, Berg's documentary could signal the start of Rihanna's acting career and official entry into Hollywood. After conquering the music industry worldwide and securing her status as a certified fashion power player, launching a movie career might be the next logical step for Rihanna. Berg's project could turn out to be one of many upcoming films for Rihanna.
