Before Ronda Rousey graced the UFC with 14 second wins there was one Queen of Fight. That woman is Sonya Blade. Ed Boon, Mortal Kombat's creator, announced to the Twitterverse Thursday that Sonya will be returning to the series along with Johnny Cage and their daughter Cassie in Mortal Kombat X. While Rousey is already looking for greener pastures outside UFC, the original queen shall continue severing spines and cracking the chin of underworld demons with precise kicks.

The announcement came with a trailer letting fans know Sonya won't be alone. It turns out the Special Forces veteran also has a close knit family –– as dysfunctional as they may be.

Joining Sonya will be her ex-husband Johnny Cage and their daughter Cassie. In between blows the former couple is seen arguing in front of the blind swordsman Kenshi and a legion of other Special Forces officers. When it comes to saving the world there's no room for couples therapy.

The introduction of Cassie seems to be the biggest surprise in the Cage Family trailer. The younger Cage's fighting style is a mix of both momma and poppa. She's equipped with mom's hand-me-down revolvers and has even started to master that green Shadow Kick dad has honed since the early days.

If there has ever been a time to jump back into Mortal Kombat now may be the time. The game is set to drop on April 14 and you can play it on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and on Windows computers. (Wii U fans will have to sit out Mortal Kombat X though. Nintendo may be afraid the children will see something cool outside of Mario.)

Other returning characters are Raiden, Scorpion, Kano and Quan-Chi. The newbies hopping into the fray with Cassie are Jacqueline Briggs, daughter to MK Original Jax, and Kung Jin, cousin of Kung Lao. Amidst all the gore Mortal Kombat X comes with a nice family vibe.
