Lynne Spears Files Court Order Against Sam Lutfi, Britney Spears’ Mom ‘Not an Anti-Semite'

Britney Spears' mom Lynne Spears recently filed a court order against Sam Lutfi, ordering that he not make any comments or allegations insinuating that the 57-year-old is an "anti-Semite" racist during their upcoming, highly-controversial legal battle. The elder Spears referred to Lutfi as a "Svengali" in her tell-all book, meaning to suggest that he is a person who controls others through deceitful means. But apparently the term also has anti-Semitic undertones - referring to the "Wandering Jew" character in Christian mythology. Now Spears doesn't want people to view her as an anti-Semitic racist as she attempts to clear her name in a defamation trial that has already grabbed many gossip tabloid headlines by storm.

Lutfi, Britney Spears' former self-proclaimed manager, is currently suing Lynne Spears for defamation. The Hollywood mom alleges that Lutfi gave Britney drugs to control her (among other shady accusations) in her 2008 memoir Through the Storm: A Real Story of Fame and Family in a Tabloid World. This was during the time of Britney's highly publicized mental breakdown.

According to TMZ, Lutfi is Jewish, and now Lynne is afraid that he could use the "Svengali" reference during the defamation trial in order to make her out to look like an anti-Semite (perhaps by calling an expert witness to testify about the anti-Semitic roots of the word).

The court order Lynne filed against Lutfi asks that he not be allowed to call in such an expert witness. The judge granted the order because the Svengali reference is not at all relevant to the case. Jury selection is currently ongoing ahead of the trial.
