The St. Louis Cardinals vs. the San Francisco Giants face off in Game 6 of the MLB National League Championship Series (NLCS) playoffs on Sunday, Oct. 21 at Candlestick Park. The ballgame is set to start at 7:37 p.m. E.T. - if the Cardinals manage a victory, they will be moving on to the 2012 World Series. Both teams have the chance to face off in a total of seven playoff games to determine which one advances on to the 2012 World Series to play the Detroit Tigers. The Cardinals and Giants are currently 3-2 in the Series, with St .Louis snagging a Game 1 (6-4), Game 3 (3-1), and Game 4 (8-3) victory and San Francisco coming out on top of Game 2 (7-1) and Game 5 (5-0).
The Detroit Tigers swept the ALCS against the New York Yankees - winning Games 1, 2, 3, and 4.
The Cardinals are now looking for a NLCS victory in order to make it to the World Series for the second straight season in a row. Cardinals starting pitcher Adam Wainwright threw a stellar seven-innings in Game 4, leading to St. Louis' win and 3-1 series advantage. The Giants aren't giving up the fight though, and have managed some stellar comebacks in the NLCS playoffs. If San Francisco wins Sunday night, both teams will battle it out in the final Game 7 on Monday, Oct. 22 at 8:07 p.m. E.T.

The NLDS and ALDS both proved exciting playoffs this year, with all four playoff series making it up to the crucial Game 5. The Yankees, who ended their regular MLB season as AL East champs, won out over the Baltimore Orioles. The Detroit Tigers yo-yoed wins and losses with the Oakland Athletics, ultimately coming out victorious in the end. The San Francisco Giants battled it out with the Cincinnati Reds, winning Game 5 (6-4). The Cardinals finally ousted out the Nationals late Friday night, winning 9-7. The Cardinals vs. Giants will now battle it out in the NL Championship Series which takes place Oct. 14-Oct. 22. The winner of the series will then go on to play in the World Series.
