Looks like things are getting ugly in the Lyons den! MStars News has learned that the Empire name is in trouble with the law.

According to TMZ, FOX has filed a lawsuit trying to end a demand by a record label claiming to have rights to the name.

The record label called Empire Distribution, located in San Francisco, California, is claiming that FOX wasn't given any rights to use the name "Empire."

The company, which does distribution and publishing for artist including: Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg, Too Short and Sean Paul, claims that the hit series is ruining the brand.

Empire Distribution says that the shows "homophobic drug dealer prone to murdering his friends," storyline is bringing the company's name down into the mud.

Empire Distribution is asking for FOX to cough up $8 million. The company even went as far as cutting down the request to a $5 million deal if the show uses Empire Distribution's artists as regulars.

FOX seems to be laughing at the situation and more than likely won't be going along with the company's deal. They have filed a lawsuit requesting a judge to cancel Empire Distribution's demand as a joke.

Hopefully, these issues will be squashed before season 2 starts. This isn't the first time MStars News has seen some outrageous demands from people claiming to have a piece of the Empire.

50 Cent tried to pull something like Empire Distribution claiming that his show, POWER, is the same as the Empire show.

"POWER Season 2 is unbelievably good trust me. I have the best writers and show runner. I like Terrence [H]oward and Taraji Henson. I don't like that They would copy the Marketing. #SMSAUDIO #FRIGO #POWERTV," the rapper previously wrote.
