Austin Reed Sigg Arrested for Abduction and Murder of Jessica Ridgeway in Colorado [DETAILS]

Austin Reed Sigg, a 17-year-old from Denver, Colorado, was arrested on Tuesday evening in connection with the shocking abduction and murder of 10-year-old Jessica Ridgeway. Sigg was also arrested for attacking a jogger back in May. According to police, a call from Sigg's own mother led authorities to the teenager, who then willingly turned himself in.

Young Jessica Ridgeway disappeared Oct. 5 while walking to school in Westminster- her body was eventually found five days later in an open park field. Colorado authorities recently connected Ridgeway's case to an attempted kidnapping of a 22-year-old runner on May 28 at another nearby park.

Sigg's mother Mindy confirmed in a tearful phone call to the AP before hanging up, "I made the phone call, and he turned himself in. That's all I have to say."

The Ridgeway family and surrounding community were notified of the arrest on Wednesday.

Few details have been released about the investigation, but a police custody report claims Sigg was cooperative when he was arrested and waived his rights.

Sigg, who will appear in court in court on Thursday (Oct. 25), will be charged in both crimes (although police have not released information on how he is linked to the May attack).

"We hope and pray that this arrest brings them some measure of closure in dealing with this enormous loss that they've suffered," Police Chief Lee Birk said.

In a public statement made on Wednesday, Governor John Hickenlooper said, "Every parent in every Colorado community will rest a little easier tonight. While we still mourn the death of Jessica Ridgeway, we are relieved an arrest has been made and the pursuit of justice can continue."
