Actor Sean Penn may be starring in The Gunman, which hit theaters this past March 20, but it looks like there are some other films he's watching––like those ISIS beheading videos. Yes, it's true; the Academy Award-winning actor recently commented on why he chooses to watch the horrific videos, saying, "The problem is we are not seeing enough of real violence."

In a new interview with the Daily Telegraph, the actor notes that he's watched the various beheading videos released by the terroristic group ISIS. He further commented that "anyone who sees them and claims that they were anesthetized by violent movies, that they weren't horrified by what they saw, on the most primal level, is intellectually dishonest or existentially unpresent."

Penn is no stranger to controversy, as he recently stirred up some ridiculous headlines by calling Birdman director Alejandro González Iñárritu a "son of a b*tch" before announcing his film the winner of the Best Picture Oscar, asking, "Who gave this son of a b*tch his green card?" while presenting.

For the record, the two are friends, so chill, people. Penn worked with the director back on his 2003 film 21 Grams. Check out the actor's explanation of his Oscars comment on CONAN here:

Adding to his remarks about the ISIS videos, Penn commented on the controversy surrounding Clint Eastwood's American Sniper, saying he saw nothing wrong with the film.

"I don't see glorification. I probably go into a zone when it comes to military films, where I am assessing the technical aspects of the filmmaking more than the political message."

He further noted that he doesn't see Eastwood as a "conventional Republican."
