The two young children of CNBC media executive Kevin Krim and his wife Marina Krim were brutally stabbed and killed while in a bathtub by their own nanny, Yoselyn Ortega. The tragic event took place on Thursday (Oct. 25) in the family's Upper West Side apartment in New York City - apparently Ortega then tried to slit her own throat in a failed suicide attempt. Leo Krim (2) and Lucia Krim (6) were rushed to St. Luke's Hospital and later pronounced dead.
Marina Krim, a pediatrician, returned home from swimming practice with her three-year-old daughter on Thursday to find 50-year-old Ortega lying unconscious next to a knife in the kitchen in her own pool of blood. Upon further inspection of the luxurious La Rochelle apartment, The New York Daily News reports that Marina then found Leo and Lucia in the bathroom covered in bloody stab wounds. There was no water in which the young children were sprawled in.
According to reports, the apartment was pitch-black when Marina first walked in - she went back downstairs to double-check with the doorman that Ortega and the children had not left. When Marina went back upstairs a second time, she found the bodies and started screaming, claims NYPC Commissioner Raymond Kelly.

Kevin Krim, CNBC's new general manager of digital content, was away on a business trip in San Francisco at the time. Police met him at the airport and escorted him to the hospital, where many other family members were gathered.
After Marina promptly alerted law enforecement, the two young children were rushed to the hospital and believed to still be breathing - but they were later pronounced dead upon arrival at St. Luke's Hospital. Ortega, who is in police custody but has yet to be charged, was taken New York Presbyterian Hospital in critical but stable condition. Because of the utter shock and disbelief, a hysterical Marina had to be sedated at St. Luke's Hospital.
It remains unclear just how many times the two children were stabbed. Lulu - an energetic, fun-loving young girl - loved art, ballet, and "princess things." The youngest Krim child, Leo, had just been learning how to walk.
Thoughts and condolences go out to the Krims during this time of tragedy.
