In her LiveJournal blog entitled "Life with the Little Krim Kids/Little Miss Lucia" (which has since been suspended), happy mother-of-three Marina Krim wrote detailed posted and uploaded adorable pictures of the loving and beautiful Krim clan - a family made up of pediatrician Marina, her husband and CNBC media executive Kevin, along with three young children Lucia (6), Nessie (3), and Leo (2). The Krim family experienced a shocking and tragic loss on Thursday (Oct. 25) - the family nanny Yoselyn Ortega is accused of brutally stabbing and killing little Lucia and Leo in the bathtub of their luxurious Manhattan apartment. After returning home from swimming lessons with middle-child Nessie, Marina walked in on a bloody murder scene that left her utterly shocked and hysterical.
In her last blog entry written just hours before the horrible tragedy occurred, Marina posted a lively and humorous description of her youngest child, Leo - "Leo speaks in the most adorable way possible. Firstly, he speaks super clearly, so you can understand every word is he is saying. And he does things like, '(I) want a fresh bagel' and 'Dito (what he calls himself) wants cold milk' and most adorable of all, 'No thank you' -- he never uses 'No' alone, it's always paired with 'thank you.'"
Many of the blog posts present a happy family doing normal, everyday family things - enjoying and relishing in exciting and new life experiences. Marina details the accounts of watching her children learn and grow - a mother very proud and thankful for being blessed with such a great and loving family. "I am very proud that the 3 kids absolutely love to play together and never seem to get bored at home. They are constantly thinking up fun things to do in the house," Marina wrote.
Marina even describes the fun and adventurous vacation the Krim crew took back in February - a trip to visit "Josie's amazing familia!!!" (Josie, referring to Ortega).

Returning to her Upper East Side apartment Thursday afternoon, Marina found 50-year-old Ortega lying unconscious next to a knife in the kitchen in her own pool of blood. Upon further inspection of the La Rochelle apartment, the New York Daily News reports that Marina then found Leo and Lucia in the bathroom covered in bloody stab wounds. There was no water in which the young children were sprawled in. They were rushed to the hospital, supposedly still breathing - but the children were later pronounced dead upon arrival at St. Luke's Hospital. Ortega, who is in police custody but has yet to be charged, was taken New York Presbyterian Hospital in critical but stable condition. It is assumed she attempted a botched suicide after murdering Lucia and Leo. Because of the utter shock and disbelief, a hysterical Marina had to be sedated at St. Luke's Hospital. Kevin Krim, who was away on business at-the-time, was escorted from the airport by police to join his mourning family at the hospital.
No motives have been released. No reason or excuse will ever make sense for the tragic loss of Little Lucia and Leo Krim. Many individuals, especially mothers, have described the tragedy as "haunting," "horrifying," and even sadly personal - "That could have been me," many shockingly thought after hearing about the morbid murders Wednesday evening.
Thoughts and condolences go out to the Krim family on their tragic and unjust loss.
