Ozzfiesta, the Mexican charter of Ozzfest, was supposed to be the ultimate Ozzy Osbourne experience. Ozzy of Black Sabbath fame and all of his friends were going to blow Mexico away with comedy and Metal, but sadly the show won't be going on. The man the festival centered around can't physically make it and Ozzfiesta had to be cancelled entirely due to Ozzy needing to undergo surgery.

The show's organizers made the sad announcement on the Ozzfiesta website. Cool Breeze Concert Promotions says Ozzy will need some rest time and performing is out of the question:

"Like you, we were very excited about the event. However, Ozzy is having surgery, scheduled for May, following his South American tour. He requires at least four weeks of recovery time. We are very disappointed that we need to cancel," Cool Breeze says. "We will be offering refunds which will be processed in the next 4-6 weeks."

Those who booked the vacation to stay in the area are welcome to do so despite the festival's cancellation, but why stay when the main attraction won't be in town? Ozzfiesta would have featured Zakk Wylde and his Black Label Society, a Q&A session with Osbourne, stand-up comedy from the great Jim Norton, and concerts from Ozzy's solo band.

Ozzy will be going under the knife after a South American tour that starts on April 25th. In South America's Monsters of Rock festival, he'll be hitting Brazil and Argentina, but that's about as long as he can go before going under for surgery.

Of course, Ozzy won't be missing out on Mexico entirely. He'll still be playing at the Monterrey in Mexico City on August 18th.

Anybody bummed out by Ozzfiesta should at least be happy to know that Black Sabbath will be rolling out one more album and Rick Rubin will once again be at the helm. Writing sessions of the album are currently underway.
