One Direction Songwriter Ed Sheeran Joins Taylor Swift's North American 'Red' Tour as Musical Special Guest in 2013

Ed Sheeran, the popular British singer/songwriter/producer who has helped pen many tunes with the hit boy band One Direction, is set to join Taylor Swift's upcoming "Red" tour as a special musical guest performer. Sheeran recently tweeted his excitement about teaming up with the popular pop/country crooner on her North American leg of the international tour to promote her new album, "Red."

On Saturday, Oct. 27, the 21-year-old "The A-Team" singer posted this exciting message on Twitter announcing the good news:

@edsheeran: "Happy to announce that I am special guest on @taylorswift13's tour of North America next year, cannot wait!! 9 stadiums and 36 arenas. Gonna be bonks."

So British!

Sheeran co-wrote the "Red" track "Everything has Changed" with Swift while supposedly lounging on a trampoline one day. Swift dished to fans during a web chat back in August: "We wrote a song while sitting on a trampoline that we loved so much that we ended up recording it as a duet... Ed Sheeran is one of my favorite people in the world. He's so cool and he's such a great artist."

The "Red" tour is set to kickoff in March 2013 and go until the end of September.

Sheeran received the Brit Award for Best British Male Solo Artist and British Breakthrough of the Year in 2012. He will join Swift in a number of big performances, including at Dallas Cowboys' stadium and Chicago's Soldier Field.
