Yes he really did.

Chris Brown confidently strutted the streets on Halloween dressed up just like everyone else in his holiday costume, only, his choice to dress like the Taliban caused quite the commotion among his fans and the media.

Fully suited with a turban and a (probably) fake gun, Brown walked in Hollywood, Calif., on Wednesday and later on posted a photo on his Instagram of him and his group of friends who were also dressed as "Arab terrorists," in the words of The Huffington Post.

Brown was on his way to Rihanna's Halloween party but no one that night was talking about the 23-year-old's rumored on-again relationship with Rihanna or any of the controversy stirring him and Karreuche Tran. Instead, attention was focused on his controversial costume, which many have lashed against.

"Chris Brown just appears to make one bad decision after another. When I saw the pic of Chris and his buddies dressed as what appeared to be terrorists, I just shook my head. Why?" Hollywood Life reporter Chloe Melas wrote. "It's not funny, it's not appropriate, and it's totally tasteless. Why can't someone ever tell Chris, 'Hey man, I probably wouldn't do that, it sends a bad message to your fans all over the world.'

The choice of costume is stirring a buzz not only because it is a touchy topic among the public considering the fact that the U.S. has been in war with Afghanistan since 2001, but also because the violence reference reminds people about the not-so-nice picture of Brown beating up Rihanna, his then girlfriend, in 2009.

Within moments of the photo being uploaded online, users began talking about his "ignorance" in choosing the costume.

TMZ posted a photo of Brown with his costume on their Twitter account with the caption, "Chris Brown Terrorizes Hollywood...in Taliban Costume," and one user commented, "This guy's level of sorriness and ignorance might not have a ceiling."

On Brown's own Twitter page, his fans commented on the photo and some of the posts included, "@chrisbrown I'm f---ken done!!!" "y'all are too much" and "#DEATH!!!! I AM DONE!"

However, Brown's mother, Joyce Hawkins, came in defense of her son and tweeted the following:

"Halloween is for fun nothing more nothing more than just fun. Get a life please."
