Do you still get to call it a couple's retreat even if you're going on vacation with your ex-husband and his new girlfriend? Well, Kate Hudson and Chris Martin are about to find that out, as the Coldplay frontman's ex-wife Gwyneth Paltrow is reportedly trying to plan a vacation with the two lovebirds. But to make things even more awkward, Gwyneth has invited her new lover Brad Falchuk on the trip as well.

According to Radar Online, while the whole situation might seem awkward, it's Paltrow's way of trying to keep the peace between the family and to make a tension-filled situation more "controllable."

"This is classic Gwyneth, trying to turn something totally awkward into a controllable situation," the source explained to the news site. "She wants to clear the air with Kate, who was actually becoming one of her own close friends last year, so it took her by surprise when she found out about her and Chris."

Paltrow is hoping her ex will be able to bond with her new boyfriend while she spends time trying to mend things with Kate.

"She's convinced that going away somewhere, isolated and remote, will make things so much better for everyone," the insider explained.

But according to People, it doesn't seem like Paltrow has much of an issue with who Chris Martin is dating. She explained in January when news broke that the musician was seeing Jennifer Lawrence that "I don't think he'd be with someone who isn't great."

The news site is also reporting that the former couple is currently in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, as they celebrate their kids Apple and Moses being on spring break from school.

We guess that "couple's retreat" is going to have to wait a few weeks ...
