Lil Wayne lost a copyright lawsuit against Quincy Jones III and the counter-suit filed against him. The jury ruled in favour of Jones and directed Wayne to pay $2,195,000, TMZ reports.
Wayne sued Jones over a 2009 documentary "The Cater" based on the rapper. Wayne was unhappy with the director's "scandalous portrayal" of him and for allegedly violating copyright and using his music for the film.
Jones filed a counter-suit seeking compensation from the rapper for blocking the release of his film and inflicting damages on his profits.
According to reports, Wayne never turned up for a court hearing. He also came under jury's censure for his "irresponsible" behaviour during his videotaped deposition.
Wayne's deposition video obtained by TMZ shows the rapper responding to the questions posed to him with glib one-liners which incurred the wrath of the jury. The judge bugged by his response, said the multi-platinum artist showed "unreasonable conduct in the deposition" and "irresponsible behavior."
Last month, Wayne was to show up in person before the jury but his lawyer requested a videotape deposition after the rapper suffered multiple-seizure type attacks while travelling in a private jet following which he was hospitalized.
Later, Wayne's agent reportedly said that the issue was blown out of proportion and the rapper didn't suffer a seizure but had a severe migraine caused from dehydration.
