It looks like controversial MSNBC news host Chris Matthews has managed to utterly shock viewers once again - following President Barack Obama's victory in the 2012 presidential election Tuesday evening (Nov. 6), Matthews went on-air and had the nerve to thank devastating Hurricane Sandy for Obama's ultimate victory. According to Matthews, "I'm so glad we had that storm last week because I think the storm was one of those things [that helped Obama win]." This insensitive comment comes just weeks after the 66-year-old "Hardball with Chris Matthews" host basically had a ranting, on-air meltdown in regards to Obama's rather "lackluster" performance during the first Presidential Debate back in October. It appears that many people are getting pretty sick over Matthew's rude and inconsiderate remarks - Twitter fans voiced their opinions shortly after Matthews called Sandy a "good thing."

On Monday, October 29, the East Coast was hit hard by Hurricane Sandy. Millions of people were affected (especially on the seacoasts of New York and New Jersey) - many were left without electricity for days (thousands still are) and numerous families are now homeless because their homes were either swept away by horrific wins or strong water tides. And now this is what Matthews had to say about Obama's involvement in helping victims and promising to assist in storm restoration and rebuilding:

"I'm so glad we had that storm last week because I think the storm was one of those things [that helped Obama win]," Matthews stated. After receiving some shocked glances from his co-hosts, Matthews went on to explain, "No, politically I should say -- not in terms of hurting people. The storm brought in possibilities for good politics."

Just last week, Matthews also condemned climate change deniers as "pigs" -

Some political analysts do believe that Obama's image may have been boosted following the devastations of Hurricane Sandy - especially after NJ Governor Chris Christie (a Republican) publically thanked the president for the federal government's support during this time of travesty. Even so, to say the storm was a "great thing?" That is a little much... at least according to many Twitter fans:

@Mark_JekyllHyde: "Chris Matthews says, I'm so glad we had the storm last week. There you have it, loss of life is fine as long as they win. Disgusting!"

@EVP_Kris: "I live in NJ!! Congrats Chris Matthews @hardball_chris - officially the stupidest person on earth."

@shannonkstevens: "So, Chris Matthews is "glad" #Sandy hit? What an absolute jacka**."

Following the backlash, Matthews hit up Twitter and posted this:

@hardball_ chris: "To clarify -- I was thrilled at the cooperation between the President and state officials that made the country proud. Great bipartisanship. Obviously I wasn't talking about the horror of the storm. I grew up on the Jersey shore."

Is that "apology" really enough? Probably not - surely Matthews will continue to get negative feedback from the millions of those affected by the upsetting impacts of Hurricane Sandy.
