After being played on television by Benedict Cumberbatch, a 5-issue comic book puts Sherlock Holmes and Sigmund Freud working on a case. Announced at WonderCon 2015, Nicholas Meyer's best-selling novel, The Seven-Per-Cent Solution, will be adapted by writers, Scott Tipton and David Tipton, with artist Ron Joseph, and cover art by Kelley Jones.

As we mentioned before, the Tiptons writing team are responsible for the crossover comic, Star Trek / Planet of the Apes: The Primate Directive. In an alternate future, Spock had to mind-meld with a sentient ape while the Klingons attacked on horseback, shooting their rifles.

In the narrative, a "rediscovered" adventure recounts the previously unknown collaboration of Sherlock Holmes and Sigmund Freud. As recorded by Dr. John H. Watson, the case revolves around a diabolic conspiracy. The real identity of Holmes's nemesis, Professor Moriarty, will change everything. Sherlock and his brother, Mycroft Holmes share a dark secret that takes them back to the detective's true whereabouts during the Great Hiatus, when the world initially believed him to be dead.

The writer/director of Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan states, "I'm delighted to help translate my novel, The Seven-Per-Cent Solution, for a new audience in a new venue and hope the results will justify the effort!"

David Tipton adds, "We think Nicholas Meyer's The Seven-Per-Cent Solution will be a great fit for a comic-book edition, and we are very much looking forward to helping adapt his unique approach to the adventures of Sherlock Holmes."

As we perviously mentioned, IDW is on a roll with the recent announcement of The X-Files: Season 11, which coincides with the live-action revival. Don't forget to check out our interview with writer Joe Harris, who discusses adapting Chris Carter procedural/thriller, Millennium. We have the reviews of the highly recommended first three issues here.

No release date has been announced for the comic book adaptation of The Seven-Per-Cent Solution.
