Some individuals were thrilled with Barack Obama's victory in the 2012 presidential election Tuesday evening (Nov. 6) - others, such as SNL alum Victoria Jackson and political analyst/Fox News contributor Karl Rove, not so much. And such staunch Mitt Romney supporters weren't shy to publically voice their disapproval following Obama's triumph. Jackson (an active Tea Party member) tweeted a heated message that America had "died" and that the Christians were to blame, while Rove was agitatedly baffled by Ohio's call for an Obama victory. And people thought that Donald Trump's angered reaction was over-the-top!
Staunch conservative Jackson has criticized Obama since his first presidential nomination back in 2008 - branding him a socialist and communist (just check out the "There's a Communist in the White House" music video she posted on YouTube). When Obama won the 2008 election, the former SNL star posted on her blog: "Voters in our last election did not base their decision on facts or knowledge, but on hype, emotion, peer pressure, and racial fervor. It didn't help that the liberally biased media blocked Americans' access to the truth... [Fox News is] the only one we should watch." This time around in 2012, she tweeted this livid message on Twitter:
@vickjackshow: "I can't stop crying...America died...I can't stop crying. America died....The Democrat party who voted God out of their platform and adopted Romans 1 as their platform won. In the Good...The Democrat Party voted God out and replaced Him with Romans 1. In the Good vs. Evil battle...today...Evil won...Thanks a lot Christians, for not showing up. You disgust me."
Seems she was pretty upset.
As for Rove, well, he just would not accept Obama's Ohio victory. Tuesday evening Fox News projected that Romney's campaign would not take Ohio, but some people just weren't having that. Chris Wallace stated, "Well I have great respect for our decision desk, and I can see that they're very happy in Chicago, but I have to tell you that the Romney camp has real doubts by the call that has been made by us and by other networks. They do not believe that Ohio is in the Obama camp. I just got an email from a top Romney person. I asked, 'Do you agree with our call?' He said 'Not really. It's less than 20 percent of the vote still out in GOP areas.'"
That's when Rove exclaimed that the call was too "premature," and "early," and he seemed to stick to that opinion even after the numbers proved that Obama had indeed won Ohio - "We've got to be careful about calling things when we have like 991 vote separating the two candidates and a quarter of the vote left to count... [Fox should be] very cautious about intruding in this process."
And that's when things got pretty awkward... news correspondent Megyn Kelly even thought so. After Kelly went to double-check the numbers, with Fox still insisting it was impossible for Romney to take Ohio, he eventually exclaimed, "They know the science! They're not listening Karl." That's when the show finally went to break, check it out:
Oh, the excitement of the presidential election! But just to be clear, Obama did win.
