Danielle Fishel and Ben Savage, 'Boy Meets World' Stars Tweet about Sequel and Reunion Rumors, 'Girl Meets World'

Rumors are swirling that the hit 1990s ABC family sitcom "Boy Meets World" may soon have a new Disney Channel sequel entitled "Girl Meets World" (clever, huh?).  And the best part -main characters Ben Savage (Cory Matthews) and Danielle Fishel (Topanga Lawrence) may star in the new, updated series (rumors have it that Lily Nicksay, who played little sister Morgan Matthews, also wants a part in the show).  It'll be like a "Boy Meets World" reunion! Savage and Fishel both recently hit up Twitter, tweeting fans little amusing hints about all the "Girl Meets Boy" hoopla.

According to reports, Disney may be piloting a "Boy Meets World" spinoff entitled "Girl Meets World." Apparently the show is set to focus on the life of Riley Matthews - the 13-year-old daughter of Cory and Topanga - and her Shawn Hunter-esque BFF, Maya.  More details about the series are under wraps, but rumors have it that Savage and Fishel may reprise their original roles - now just a tad bit older and with kids. One report even alleges that Savage will star as a middle school history teacher (just like the original Mr. Feeny, played by William Daniels!).

On November 3, Fishel tweeted this message to fans:

@daniellefishel: "Just want you guys to know that @BenSavage and I have talked and we've decided...Thanksgiving is going to be delicious this year!"

And just in October, popular model-turned-actress Brooklyn Decker tweeted this:

@BrooklynDecker: Why is Boy Meets World trending?? Perhaps (dare I say) a reunion? Please tell me this is why."

Surprisingly Savage responded with:

@BenSavage: "You never know, Brooklyn ;)"

Decker then tweeted back, "Now now @BenSavage don't tease us; don't you do that. We can't handle the emotional tug-O-war! It's just not right" to which Savage tweeted, "Aw : )."

So what do fans think about all the "Boy Meets World" now "Girl Meets World" gossip? Would fans tune in to watch the Disney spinoff?

"Boy Meets World" aired from 1993 to 2000 and followed the ups and downs of Cory Matthews' life from adolescence to adulthood - the show ended with Matthews marrying his longtime love Topanga and the two finally moving in together. (As for Nicksay, the now 24-year-old told TMZ that she'd definitely be interested in taking part in the sequel series, but Disney has yet to approach her about it).
