Former CIA Director David Petraeus' highly-controversial extramarital affair was a hot topic on Monday's episode of "The View," and popular co-hosts Barbara Walters and Elisabeth Hasselbeck had some rather clashing opinions on the subject. When Hasselback brings up the matter of conspiracy theories, stating that Petraeus' resignation timing is "pretty fishy," Walters cuts in, exclaiming that such "theories" have nothing to do with Petraeus' publicized affair and consequential resignation. So, who had the better argument?

All five "The View" hosts agree that the scandal surrounding the Petraeus family is indeed sad, but Hasselbeck went one step further, insisting, "There are a ton of conspiracy theories out there right now. One is that this is a Benghazi cover-up and [the Obama administration] didn't want Petraeus to testify. I'm just saying what's out there. Is the timing fishy? Sure, and look..."

Walters then interrupts with, "No, I don't think it's fishy."

Even so, a somewhat agitated Hasselback continues to explain her opinion with, "Regardless, we don't know if this is-we don't have the details. What we do know, and in fact what I feel most sad about is that on the weekend of Veterans Day, this is ironically what we're talking about... A man who served our nation in a way probably none of us ever could have, possibly a fall from grace, but now we're not talking about the veterans in our country that need us the most." The then asked viewers to go on the show's website to learn how to help veterans."

Walters simply responds to that with, "Of course we should. But one thing has nothing to do with the other."

Former CIA Director David Petraeus was granted a resignation from President Barack Obama on Friday (Nov. 9) after admitting to cheating on his wife of 37 years, Holly. Since then, reports have named biographer Paula Broadwell as Petraeus' mistress - the inappropriate affair was ousted during an FBI investigation.
