Bruce Jenner Sex Change News: Transgender Surgery Date REVEALED After Diane Sawyer Interview

Bruce Jenner's sex change operation has been kept very quiet for the last couple of months, with speculation surrounding whether or not the reports are even true. Now it looks like the rumors are not only true, but that the transgender Olympic athlete will make his transition to a woman much sooner than some expected. While it can take years for some transgender individuals to get the surgery, Bruce is reportedly going under the knife this spring.

That's right, Jenner, who reportedly has already gotten breast implants, is expected to make the switch from male to female in the coming weeks, according to Radar Online.

"Bruce is now ready," a source revealed the news to the site. "This is a very, very big step for Bruce to take, and the time is approaching quickly. The surgery will take place at the end of May/beginning of June. It's a very intensive surgery."

The news site also got plastic surgery Dr. Mel Ortega on the phone to shed some light on what will take place during the six-to-eight hour procedure.

"The testicles are history but the rest is preserved to create the neo-vagina," the medical doctor explained. "The tissue is never removed from the body, with the exception of incorporating skin grafts if there isn't enough material."

According to The Inquistr, Jenner's surgery will take place after his interview with Diane Sawyer airs, which is set to debut on April 24.

We can expect Bruce to watch the special with his family, as his son Brody spoke out to People magazine saying that every one in the family was happy for Bruce.

"Everything is going great with the family," the star explained to the site. "Everybody's very happy. Everybody's living life. And it's a great time for all of us."
