Former star of CBS' hit crime show "CSI" Gary Dourdan was forced to file for bankruptcy back in August after finding himself in a tough financial spot, TMZ reports. According to documents, the 45-year-old actor (who starred in eight seasons of the Emmy Award winning "CSI") reportedly has $1.8 million in assets, but owes $1.73 million. This is not Dourdan's first run-in with the law - the star was once arrested for felony battery charges after allegedly breaking his girlfriend's nose, and he was arrested for drug possession back in 2008 and 2011.
According to a TMZ report, a large chunk of Dourdan's debt is owed to various banks including Union Bank and Wells Forgo, one which supposedly controls the mortgage on his home. The amount Dourdan owes to banks adds up to a whopping $1,689,704 million.
And Dourdan's assets: $200 cash, $3k in a bank account, $4k in furniture, $200 worth of books, $1,500 in clothes, $500 in watches ... oh and a 2006 Dodge Charger worth $7,000.
Dourdan's contract with "CSI" was not renewed for season 9, and his popular character Warrick Brown was shot and killed off in the season 8 finale. According to Dourdan, he now only earns a meager "disposable" income of $321/month - his bills ($14,562 a month) take up the majority of the $14,883 he earns per-month on average.
CBS 42 reports that Dourdan filed for bankruptcy in an injunction on Aug. 30 to prevent Wells Fargo from putting his extravagant Venice, CA home up for auction. Bankruptcy papers were signed that day. Dourdan's struggling financial issues first became public in 2010, when he was sued over cred card debit.
Dourdan insists that he "anticipates major acting roles" in the near future, which he hopes can help pay off some of his debt.
As for the battery charges filed in November 2011 by his then-girlfriend Nicole Vail Cannizzaro - Dourdan pled guilty. A judge issued a three-year restraining order against Dourdan and threatened him with jail if violated. Before that, Dourdan was arrested in April 2008 after a Palm Springs Police Department officer located "suspected cocaine, heroin, ecstasy, miscellaneous prescription drugs and paraphernalia" in his possession. He was placed in jail and charged with possession of narcotics and dangerous drugs. Then in June 2011, Dourdan was arrested after he crashed his vehicle into two parked cars. He was charged with possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia - charges were dropped two months later.
