Valeria Lukyanova, a.k.a. the "Human Barbie," caused quite the viral stir earlier this year after photos of the stunning 21-year-old blonde model hit the worldwide web. Did she get plastic surgery, are the images merely Photoshop, is she even real? These were just some of the questions many critics pondered over Lukyanova's very Barbie-esque appearance. Now Lukyanova, who strayed away from all of the social medial limelight, reveals-all in an exclusive interview with 'V' magazine, which hit newsstands on Nov. 9 Yes, the "Human Barbie" is indeed real (thanks to one killer makeup routine), but Lukyanova is flattered that she appears "unreal" to so many critics - it merely means that she's doing her job right.
The Ukrainian model denies any rumors of Photoshop images or plastic surgery - in fact, her Barbie persona may heavily rely on looks, but Lukyanova believes that a positive attitude and spiritual connection are what really counts:
"Many people say bad things about people who want to perfect themselves. It's hard work, but they dismiss it as something done by surgeons or computers. This is how they justify not wanting to strive for self-improvement. It's how they explain their continued inaction. It's just an excuse. There are plenty of video clips on the Internet showing what I really look like. Some people even spread rumors about me and retouch my pictures to hurt me. But I don't take any of them seriously. I'm even flattered! It's what success is like. I'm happy I seem unreal to them, it means I'm doing a good job."
The Barbie look-alike goes on to explain:
"People don't understand that it has nothing to do with looks. There are many good-looking young women, but why are they completely unknown? Because looks are just a bonus. If you spend time working only on your appearance and you forget about your inner self, people will not be interested in you because they will not feel anything. Many people think you need only good looks to be successful, but it's not true-only spiritual work can bear tangible results."

Lukyanova simply considers herself a very creative, artistic person in many respects - a good set of makeup skills happens to be one of her fortes. Check out how Lukyanova achieves her Barbie look in this YouTube makeup tutorial:
Lukyanova can handle some of the negative public feedback, because she understands that's part of what it takes to be a celebrity. She believes it is her duty to help and guide others that share the same interest in "astral projection" and her other artistic specialties:
"I believe that because of [my internet popularity] I have a responsibility to bring more good, light, and positive emotions to people. I want to share my art and my music and tell people about my spiritual ideas. When you feel happy, you want to tell everyone about it so that others become happier too... I know the other side of celebrity is negativity, but I see it in a positive light. If people care about me, then I am on the right path. In real life, I never hear bad things."
When she's not the "Human Barbie," Lukyanova is a professional mountain climber. Lukyanova loves new, exciting experiences, and it doesn't look like the blonde beauty is about to slow down any time soon:
"I have traveled all over, and I love extreme recreation and adrenaline. I'm not afraid of anything, and I love taking risks. I love the unknown. I observe the flow of energy and bring its vibrations into my work. In my view, you can say it with music better than with words."
