Popular standup comedian Janeane Garofalo has been happily married for over 20 years, and the former "The Majority Report" co-host didn't even know it! Apparently, the 48-year-old married "The Big Bang Theory" producer Rob Cohen "as a joke" back in 1991 in a wild, drunken Las Vegas wedding ceremony. But it turns out the gag nuptials were actually legit, and the drive-through Vegas wedding totally real. Pretty funny... other than the fact that Cohen is now engaged to "Jimmy Kimmel Live" producer Jill Leiderman. That presents somewhat of a problem. But no worries, Garofalo and Cohen had a rushed divorce on Saturday, and things went pretty smoothly (considering the duo didn't even realize that they were married for the past two decades, there wasn't much to argue about or fight over).
Garofalo explained the rather entertaining scenario Saturday night (Nov. 10) at a New York Comedy Festival reunion for "The Ben Stiller Show," reports the New York Post. Garofalo announced to the audience - "[Cohen and I] were married for 20 years until this evening. We got married drunk in Vegas... We dated for a year, and we got married at a drive-through chapel in a cab. (We thought) you have to go down to the courthouse and sign papers and stuff, so who knew? We were married, and apparently now that (Rob) is getting married for real, his lawyer dug up something."
Both individuals were made aware of the marriage after Cohen's lawyer made the discovery while straightening out the legal side of things for Cohen's upcoming marriage to Leiderman. Garofalo and Cohen notarized a quick divorce in a midtown bank in New York on Saturday.
Garofalo also joked to the crowd that she no longer drinks.
