The 19 Kids & Counting gang has been making headlines all over the place in recent months, as they have been celebrating happy occasions like marriages and babies, but it looks like one of those momentous occasions is about to be overshadowed by a dark secret. That's right, it seems that drugs and alcohol played a part in Jessa Duggar and her hubby Ben Seewald's wedding ceremony. Now before you get to thinking that these two had a killer reception, it was actually one of the groomsman who revealed that he had a struggle with crystal meth, booze and even sex addictions in the past.

Both Jessa and Ben broke the news of their friend's involvement with drugs and alcohol, as it seems that they didn't want it to be dug up by a news outlet. The stars sat down with buddy and one of Ben's groomsman Ryan Schofield in a YouTube video that Jessa posted to her YouTube account.

According to Radar Online, in the interview Ryan, a construction worker, opens up about his un-Christian past in the new interview.

"I got into drugs and alcohol for at least seven years or so, in and out of jail," Schofield candidly explains in the new video. "I started off with marijuana and drinking and things like that, but as time went on, I got involved with methamphetamine."

He tells the site that what led to him experimenting with drugs was the feeling of being depressed and selfish.

"I wanted to escape a lot of problems that I had, and anger and issues that were going on," Ryan told Jessa and Ben, adding, "I was depressed and selfish and self-seeking."

But Ryan and his now-wife Ally decided to denounce their wrong-doing and turned to the Lord, who they credit with saving their lives.

"Drugs and alcohol were easy to quit," Ryan stated. "God gave me freedom over that."
