Lil Wayne's professional relationship with fellow rapper T.I. eventually evolved into a lifelong friendship. But the "Dead and Gone" emcee is also close with Cash Money Record's latest protege, Young Thug. So, where does that leave him in the whole Carter 6 saga?

Apparently, the "Family Hustle" hypeman really wants nothing to do with it.

Birdman still refuses to release Weezy's highly-anticipated new album, The Carter V. Thug ultimately seemed to shade the YMCMB superstar by deeming his own upcoming record The Carter 6. But after nonstop drama (and even a threatened lawsuit), Thug eventually changed the title to Barter 6. Okay, then...

The ongoing industry feud actually leaves T.I. somewhat shocked. In a recent interview with The Whoolywood Shuffle, the "Blurred Lines" crooner reveals that he had a recent talk with Thug. Here's what happened:

"I asked Thugga myself... I said, 'Hey brother, what you doing? What's going on?' He basically responded. He said, 'Everybody's making it a whole lot more... I'm doing it to pay homage. That's my favorite rapper.'"

Maybe Thug's a complete genius - using this extra media attention to hype his own work? Hey, it's working!

But the "Lifestyle" singer continues blasting Weezy online, at one point even threatening that "he's gonna get in Lil Wayne's a$$." And despite T.I.'s support for his Young Money bro, he wishes to remain neutral. Check out the full interview below:

Does Weezy feel betrayed, considering rumors once suggested that he'd drop Cash Money to team-up with the Grand Hustle founder? Apparently, they once considered launching a "power" record label together...

Meanwhile, fans still anxiously wait for Wayne's surprise release of the #FreeWeezy "revenge" album. Stay tuned.
