In a controversial report published by the Daily News on Wednesday (Nov. 13), many anonymous Jets football players made negative remarks about their new teammate and popular quarterback Tim Tebow, referring to him as a "terrible" player and insisting that there's no chance he'd be able to take over Mark Sanchez's responsibilities and talents as starting quarterback. After the report hit the media, Tebow made a positive public statement that reaffirmed his ongoing dedication to the Jets team, no matter what. On the other hand, Jets coach Rex Ryan was rather angered by the seedy report, stating that such actions by Tebow's teammates were "cowardly." Ryan still has a lot of faith in his new quarterback, and hopes that the rest of his team can soon feel the same way.

While many Jets players (supposedly over a dozen) remained anonymous in the Daily News report, their remarks towards Tebow were nonetheless rather harsh. "He's terrible," one starting defensive player said, while another starter claimed, "You can't just line up in the Wildcat all the time. That won't work." Yet another player said, "Now we're depending on miracles? You can't play that way." Left guard Mark Slauson was quoted saying that the difference between starting quarterback Mark Sanchez and backup Tim Tebow was "not even close."

And as for Tebow's reaction to the unkind report?

"I always find the good and the positive in every situation," Tebow told reports in the locker room. "And the positive of this is to go and work a little harder and build better relationships with your teammates... This is something I can't control... I can control my attitude, my effort and my work ethic... Those are things that will never change based on what anybody says... It's never fun to hear criticism - at the same time, it's something I've always used as motivation. You try to get stronger from it."

Tebow even forgives Slauson's remarks - the two players talked over the issue, and Tebow ended up referring to him as an "awesome guy."

Check out Tebow's response here.

But Jets coach Rex Ryan wasn't so forgiving - "If you're not going to put your name to it, I think that's about as cowardly of a thing there is," Ryan announced in a recent press conference. "I don't want to go into the specifics of what I said, but I did address it with our football team."

Ryan continues with, ""I believe this team is (together), will continue to be and maybe even become tighter. I'm confident that will be the case. We never say that it always has to be a bed of roses, but again, put your name to it. I think people would respect you a lot more for it."

Ryan, who encourages his players to "speak their honest opinions" (as long as they do it fairly), still has much faith in Tebow - "We asked him, a former Heisman Trophy winner, first-round pick, a quarterback who led his team to a playoffs that, 'You know what? We want you to be our personal protector.' Everything we've asked him to do, he's done."

For now, Sanchez will continue taking the field as Tebow mainly resides on the sidelines... but hopefully his teammates can start treating him with more respect. "He's a football player and I said that from Day 1," Ryan said of Tebow. "We never brought him in to be the starting quarterback. We already had a starting quarterback in Mark Sanchez. I thought I was clear on that from the day we brought Tim in here."
