Kara Nichols, a 19-year-old teen lingerie model from Colorado, went missing over a month ago, and police are still mind-boggled by the young blonde beauty's mysterious disappearance. While law enforcement won't rule out Nichols' rather unconventional career as playing a role in her disappearance, the teen's parents insist that people shouldn't immediately speculate that Kara's lingerie modeling had anything to do with her sudden absence. The Nicholses, along with friends and family members, set up the "Help Us Find Kara Nichols" Facebook page to help aid in the effort to finally locate the missing Kara Nichols.
According to the El Paso County Sheriff's Office, Nichols was last seen in Colorado Springs on Oct. 9 - the last call from her cellphone was made at 11:45 p.m. on that day. Police say Nichols was traveling to Denver to work with her modeling company Beautiful Distractions Models, but she never made it. Attempts to reach Nichols through her cellphone proved unsuccessful.
"What causes us concern is that it is really uncharacteristic of her not to be in contact with her friends and family," Sgt. Joe Roybal told The Huffington Post. "We really don't have any indication as to why she hasn't been in contact. We have nothing to indicate any crime has been committed or foul play. The only thing that concerns us is that she has not been in contact with anybody. We're hoping that maybe she sees this or people who have seen this recently might see this and reach out to friends and family or us. We're hoping for a best case scenario."
Michelle Bart of the National Women's Coalition Against Violence & Exploitation plans on meeting with the Nicholses to discuss further search efforts. In the meantime, the family is heavily relying on the "Help Us Find Kara Nichols" Facebook page for any clues about Kara's whereabouts.
And the Nicholses want to make one thing clear - Kara's modeling career may have nothing to do with her disappearance, and people shouldn't just assume that's the case. More importantly, websites shouldn't exploit Kara's lingerie modeling in a negative light just to gain readership. A recent post on "Help Us Find Kara Nichols" states:
"...Sadly, some of the media we trusted chose to exploit our daughter more than they chose to help us find her. We ask you to please disregard any blogging sites or media sites that choose to depict our daughter in a light that may only reflect a teen finding her way - like with many other teens, pictures on the web may be to boost ones "likes" and friends or may even find a job in modeling, but rest assured that is not the daughter we know. Even the police have been quoted as saying, "we are unsure at this time if Kara's job has anything to do with her disappearance."
Please we're pleading with reputable news sources to please have a voice for our cherished little girl who is missing and to help us reachout to the residents of Colorado and beyond and help us find the answers we need and that the police need to solve her case; whether criminal or not, she needs to be found.
To those thinking you are helping to get the word out; when you exploit our daughter for the sole reason of having readership on your websites, if you choose to use photos that portray her in a different light or you choose to utilize fliers and messages not approved by our family - your agenda is not what Kara, the police or our family needs or wants - we ask the public to refrain from viewing these sites and focus on the main objective, bringing our daughter home."
Kara Nichols is a white female, 5'8" tall, 120 pounds, with blond hair and green eyes. For anyone with information who thinks they can help in the case, call Detective Cliff Porter at (719) 520-7227.
