Missouri police arrested 20-year-old Blaec Lammers on Friday (Nov. 16), after his own mother alerted authorities that she was worried her son was plotting a violent and deadly attack at a local Bolivar movie theater during a packed screening of the highly-anticipated "Twilight" film "Breaking Dawn - Part 2." According to reports, Lammers' mother told law enforcement that she had probable cause to believe that her son "may have intentions of shooting people at the movie" during a Sunday screening - a deadly attack that may have rivaled the Aurora, Colorado shootings by James Holmes in July at a midnight screening of "Dark Knight Rises" if carried out.

Lammers' mother alerted Bolivar, Missouri authorities about fears of her son's "Twilight" attack plot on Thursday, insisting that his recently purchased weapons (two assault rifles and hundreds of bullets) closely resembled those she heard were used in the Aurora shootings. Blaec was picked up by police at a local Sonic restaurant later that evening and brought in for questioning. The young man eventually admitted to purchasing assault weapons similar to those used in the Aurora shooting, but insisted he planned on using them just for hunting (although he did admit to sometimes having "homicidal thoughts").

According to officers handling the case, Lammers "had a lot in common with the people that have been involved in those [types of] shootings" (such as in Aurora). "[He] stated that he was quiet and a bit of a loner, had recently purchased firearms and didn't tell anybody about it, and had homicidal thoughts."

Indeed, Lammers had purchased tickets to Sunday night's screening of the final "Twilight Saga" film where police believe he planned on using the firearms on innocent moviegoers. Lammers eventually admitted his morbid plan to police.

According to the investigators' probable cause statement, Lammers also planned to "just start shooting people at random" at a local WalMart store. Lammers admitted to recently purchasing two assault rifles and 400 rounds of ammunition - he claimed that if he ran out of bullets he would "just break the glass where the ammunition is being stored and get some more and keep shooting until police arrived."

Lammers also claimed that he wanted to stab a Walmart employee to death back in 2009 - he had followed the employee around the store before police eventually got involved.

Police report that Lammers purchased the firearms on Monday and Tuesday. He promptly went to a shooting range to practice because he "had never shot a gun before and wanted to make sure he knew how they shot and how they functioned." Although it appears that Lammers obtained the firearms legally, a police investigation is underway to "determine how in fact he was able to obtain a permit."

"Thankfully we had a responsible family member or we might have had a different outcome," Bolivar Police Chief Steve Hamilton told The Associated Press. Lammers is currently under doctor's care for mental illness -  court documents said he was "off of his medication."

According to friend Ashley Miller, who met Lammers about a year ago, he is "one of the sweetest guys I had ever met" but "very emotional." She told the AP in a phone interview that he would periodically stop talking to her. He supposedly bounced between relatives while growing up, and continued to bounce between girlfriends as an adult - "He was never actually happy. I think he had depression or something," Miller said.

Lammer, the young man behind the alleged "Twilight" attack plot, was charged on Friday night with a series of criminal offenses including first-degree assault, making a terrorist threat, and armed criminal action. He is currently being held on $500,000 bond.

According to Polk County prosecutor Ken Ashlock, Lammers' first court appearance will most likely take place on Wednesday, Nov. 21. Ashlock's office will file a motion asking for a mental exam of Lammers.
