Some fans of Marvel or DC like to think that each company has some sort of blood vendetta against the other, when in actuality the relationship between the rivals has largely been respectful and even collaborative. The Avengers: Age of Ultron writer and director Joss Whedon proved that point with his comments about the trailer for Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice.

"I found it interesting," Whedon told Yahoo! Movies, which asked for his thoughts on the trailer. "Because they’re bringing up a lot of issues that we bring up in ‘Age of Ultron’ and I think it’s inevitable. People with power, who are good, do not always agree and it makes perfect sense for me that [Batman and Superman] would fight. And besides…Batman and Superman are gonna fight! I’m so excited! I’m so excited!"

So clearly Whedon can set aside his employer in the interest of genuine excitement, and Age of Ultron star Chris Evans also offered an answer that might upset Marvel diehards.

"How does anyone fight Superman?" he said. "I feel like [Superman] would bulldoze our whole squad, they really wrote him unfairly. It’s not fair, he’s got too much."

In other news, the first round of reviews for The Avengers: Age of Ultronhas arrived, and you'll be comforted to know that those who have seen the film are wholly in support of what Whedon has done with the sequel.

Here is a sample of one such review from Deadline:

"I’m happy to report the stars are all back, especially Chris Evans’ stoic Captain America, but also Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson and Chris Hemsworth. Also happily returning is the witty banter and interplay. And writer-director Joss Whedon has expertly ladled on lots of action, in a kind of Transformer-itis excess. But the thrill is gone. For me, it’s a been-there, done-that feeling, like watching the all-star edition of Dancing With The Stars. But does it matter if I was just a bit disappointed? I think not. Marvel and Disney have a cash cow, and nothing will keep the fans away. Much as I admire Whedon, Joe and Anthony Russo will take over the franchise’s next two installments, and I look forward to seeing what they do. Their Captain America: The Winter Soldier was a textbook example of how to take a comic-book sequel forward."
