The open world, third-person video game, Mad Max is officially on the way and it has fans of the series as excited as they are for the new 2015 film, Fury Road. This week we were treated to a gameplay overview trailer, featuring the Mel Gibson character in action in the Wasteland, exploring, fighting and building. In fact, we get a great glimpse at the video game version of the Thunderdome in this new footage. Hitting shelves on September 1, 2015 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC, this could be the breakout hit of the year. Check out the trailer below!

As we learn from this new trailer, players start off the game with absolutely nothing besides a will to live. Apparently, "everything has been taken from you," so you need to start off by crafting a car. As you continue on in your journey, you can upgrade your vehicle with gear. Just as you upgrade your car, you need to get armor, abilities and weapons for yourself.

While upgrades and customization are certainly great selling points for games these days, there's plenty of action as well. The fighting in this gameplay looks a bit like the Batman: Arkham series, according to IGN.

This game definitely looks like a great take on the open world gaming, mixed with the post-apocalyptic world of Mad Max.

Here is the official synopsis of the game (via Facebook):

Play as Mad Max, a lone warrior who must embark on a perilous journey after his Interceptor is stolen by a deadly gang of marauders. A reluctant hero with an instinct for survival, Max wants nothing more than to leave the madness behind and find solace in the storied "Plains of Silence."
