The term "best pound-for-pound fighter" gets thrown around a lot and if there is one person who should rightly hold this title it's Jon Jones. If anything, only he is its rightful recipient. The sport's greatest UFC Light Heavyweight Champion has been unstoppable in the octagon but for now, his run has come to an end. The UFC has made the decision to strip Jones of his title after the champ turned himself in to police custody for a felony charge in Albuquerque, New MexicoWith the suspension Jones has been removed from the UFC 187 card on May 23 and will be replaced by Daniel Cormier. Now Cormier and Anthony Johnson will be fighting for the vacant Light Heavyweight Title.

Dana White talked about the Jones suspension on Fox Sports Live.

"He's very disappointed. He's upset. He wanted to go down as one of the greats or the greatest," White said. "He's disappointed, but it is what it is. It is the decision we had to make. For us to go in and have to strip him of his title and suspend him is not fun, but you know what they say: The show must go on."

The felony charges stem from an incident on Sunday morning where Jones allegedly ran a red light, collided with another vehicle and then fled the scene. Jones was also allegedly seen grabbing a bunch of cash before making a run for it. The person in the other car was a 25-year-old pregnant woman. She suffered a fractured arm and wrist in the crash.

Jones took to Twitter after the news broke:

Jones may have run into some trouble a few times outside the ring but in the octagon nobody has been better. At 205 pounds, Jones has defended the title a record of eight times. On top of that, when he won the title he became the youngest UFC champion to win a title in the sport's history. He was just two wins away from tying Anderson Silva's record of 10 consecutive title defense.
