Manny Pacquiao Faces Class-Action Suit for Not Disclosing Injury Before Floyd Mayweather Fight

If you were disappointed by the Manny Pacquiao-Floyd Mayweather fight, well, you might be pleased to see that a sort of litigation karma has befallen one of the fighters. Apparently a class action suit against Pacquiao is currently underway. The suit claims that Pacquiao masked a shoulder injury that in turn screwed pay-per-view buyers and gamblers out of a lot of money. Bob Arum of Top Rank Boxing has also been named in the suit in the suit that may be asking for up to $5 million in damages.

Stephane Vanel and Kami Rahbaran are the two names on the suit. According to them, they are doing it, "on behalf of all persons who purchased tickets; purchased the pay-per-view event; or who wagered money on the event."

The court papers obtained by TMZ cites a few incidents as evidence. One piece of evidence was Mike Tyson himself.

"Mayweather prevailed in a unanimous decision," the document states. "Spectators were underwhelmed by the fight, with champion boxer Mike Tyson terming it the "Dud of the Century."

Another piece of evidence the paper uses was a pre-fight questionnaire that asked Pacquiao if he had any injuries on his shoulders, elbow and hands. For this question Pacquiao replied with "no."

The piece of damaging evidence came as a result of questioning Pacquiao's sparring partners.

"To the contrary, one of Pacquaio's sparring partners has allegedly reported that Pacquaio was in fact injured a few weeks prior to the fight, and that the injury was so severe that Pacquaio could not continue to spar and both boxers were sent home," the document continues. "As a result of the injury, Pacquaio allegedly requested an injection of Toradol (a non-steroidal prescription medication) and the numbing drug lidocaine before the fight. That request was blocked by the Nevada State Athletic Commission."
