'Infinity Gauntlet' #1 Preview: Thanos, Mad Titan, Fights Nova In Marvel's 'Secret Wars!'

After making his presence known in Marvel Cinematic Universe, the Mad Titan is now heading to Marvel Comics' Secret Wars. In this special preview, with Sam Alexander and Richard Rider gone, who will take up the Nova mantle and fight Thanos in writer Gerry Duggan and artist Dustin Weaver's Infinity Gauntlet #1?

As we previously mentioned, Secret Wars features the Marvel superheroes from alternate realities coming together to meet in an epic standoff. The Marvel superheroes and super-villains will be forced to defend themselves for the survival of their universe. There will be no Marvel Universe, no Ultimate Universe, or any other, just Battleworld.

In the plot synopsis, readers will be taken to New Xandar, south of Battleworld. What was once a beautiful city-state has become a barren post-apocalyptic mess. In this wasteland, Anwen Bakian and her family struggle survive.Since her mother left years ago to join the Nova Force, Anwen is left to stand with her dad, sister and grandfather against giant killer insects. But when Anwen finds a mysterious stone, she could hold the key to unlocking incredible cosmic power.

In an Interview with Marvel, Dugan teases a bit about the story, "It's a unique opportunity to showcase a family of survivors dealing with an alien invasion that was devastatingly successful. Families are fun to write. They push and pull each other in different directions. The Bakians are really backed into a corner; it will be fun to see them try to overcome their many, horrible problems."

The Deadpool writer adds, "I think, since becoming a father, I've thought a lot about parenting and family," adds Weaver. "It's given me a new perspective on my own experience of growing up and on the future. I'm calling on all of this in thinking about the family in the story. The idea of family is rich ground to create a story from."

As we previously mentioned, Miles Morales might lose his home world in Ultimate End #1, Colossus leads the mutant superhero team, the X-Men, to find his sister in Inferno #1, and Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver clash over their father's throne in House of M #1.

Infinity Gauntlet #1 will arrive in stores sometime in May 27, 2015.
