Zebra Chases Pony in Parking Lot: Zoo Officials Follow in Hilarious Pursuit in Staten Island [VIDEO]

A zebra chasing around a pony in a shopping center parking lot - just a typical day for Staten Island resident Zachary Osher at his Metropolitan Drape & Blind store! Okay, maybe not so typical, but that's the bizarre sight that Osher witnessed outside of his shop near Victory Boulevard on Wednesday afternoon (Nov. 28). That's right - a pony (actually, a horse) being chased down by a mini zebra... and both animals then being manically pursued by two flustered zoo officials! And Osher managed to catch the whole escapade on tape. Of course the 38-second clip has quickly become the viral YouTube hit of the day... so continue on to watch the adorable chase-down! (And no worries, local police report that the two beautiful creatures were promptly returned to their home at a petting zoo at Victory Boulevard and Travis Avenue).

According to Osher, about 30 seconds after he captured the zebra-pony chase on film, two men in dark black suits carrying lassoes suddenly ran across the street in hot pursuit of the two mammals. The flustered zoo officials managed to first capture the zebra, and not too long later the pony-on-the-loose was also apprehended. Both were returned to their proper zoo habitats.
