Very little is known about the upcoming actress Daisy Ridley, and much less is known about her character, Rey, who is set to become one of the biggest characters in the Star Wars movie universe this holiday season. Hitting theaters on December 18, 2015, J.J. Abrams' The Force Awakens is a gigantic film event, so how come the newest star of the franchise is a relative unknown? Well, this week, Ridley answered some questions about rumors surrounding the Disney and Lucasfilm project, and maybe even confirming some spoilers! From what we can gather from the rumors surrounding Daisy's character, Rey is allegedly the daughter of someone important from the original trilogy. According to Gamma Squad, rumors are speculating that she is the daughter of Luke Skywalker, and therefore has the genes of a Jedi. This could open up a lot of possibly future story lines involving a new Jedi master.
Other rumors suggest that Han Solo and Leia could be her parents, which still has the Jedi lineage, but with more attitude.
Either way, Ridley and Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy pointed out this week in a new interview that family is very important for Rey and the movie.
"I was particularly taken by the fact that she kept talking about her family," Kennedy said of the young actress. "Her mom, her sisters... we began to realize that many of the things about Daisy are things that are inside the character..."
Meanwhile, Ridley pretty much confirmed the similarities between Rey and Luke by stating: "I've said that I'm solitary, that's probably a big clue as to what it is."
