Former New York Jets, Seattle Seahawks Wide Receiver Braylon Edwards Arrested on DUI Charges

Braylon Edwards could have been a star in the NFL. Early on in his career he amassed sixteen touchdowns in a single season with the Cleveland Browns. The potential success Edwards could have had in his career was eventually derailed by a number of off-the-field problems such as DWI arrests and a slew of violent altercations. Even today, Edwards' legal woes seem to still be piling up as the former wide receiver was arrested for DUI in Scottsdale, Arizona last week. According to police, Edwards blood-alcohol level was over twice the legal limit with a .20. 

Drinking and driving seems to be kryptonite for the receiver Cleveland believed would one day be their future. In the fall of 2010, Edwards was arraigned on DWI charges and still managed to dress up for a game later. In that instance, Edwards also had twice the legal limit of alcohol in his system.

His issues aren't limited to one sport either. In 2009, he found himself brawling with a Cincinnati lineman who also happened to be friends with Lebron James. According to Lebron, Edwards acted "childish" for starting a fight at 2:30 a.m.

"I've never crossed paths with Braylon before, but it seems like there's a little jealousy going on with Braylon and me and my friends. I have no idea why," Lebron said of the fight. "I've never said anything to Braylon at all. But for him to do that is very childish. My friend is 130 pounds. Seriously. It's like hitting one of my kids. It doesn't make sense."

It's distractions such as these that ended up becoming the final death knell in a once promising career. In eight years with the NFL Edwards suited up with the Cleveland Browns, New York Jets, San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks. The last time he appeared in a game was 2012.
