Brooklyn, New York native, India Carney, 21 has a voice of gold, and is living out a dream being apart of Christina Aguelra's team on the hit NBC show, The Voice. Like her competitor, Koryn Hawthorne, MStars News reporter, Star Connor had a chance to speak to India to see what her plans were to stay in the huge singing competition.

In an exclusive interview, India revealed that her goals in the future were to be a part of music industry. The 21-year-old has been studying music for most of her life, attending a performing arts school where she was trained in opera. After that, India moved on to college and is looking forward to graduating from UCLA's classical music program. At UCLA, she and some fellow classmates formed a band that opened up for the legendary neo soul band, The Roots. As graduation approaches, India is hoping The Voice can help her make the transition from music student to professional singer.

Star Connor: How does it feel to be "Team Christina?"

India Carney: "It's been an incredible experience. Of course I didn't really didn't know what to expect. All I knew is that she was one of my biggest inspirations growing up and I was on her team. As the journey continued, I really got to understand her as a person in addition to knowing her as an amazing singer. She's a really beautiful person inside and out. She's very encouraging and in the context of the show, she's really a strong mentor for aspiring singers."

Star Connor: When you were a child, what made you believe that music was the thing for you?

India Carney: "I started learning music at around 2 years old. After that, I took piano classes and community choirs. That was kind of something I did and then when I was 9, I did a production of Anne and that's when it clicked. Every since then I've been trying to work at it and study as much as I could."

Star Connor: How was it working with/opening up for The Roots?

India Carney: "That was awesome, but unfortunately I didn't get to work with The Roots. Just being on the same bill as them was unreal."

Star Connor: You're graduating soon. What are your future goals and plans as far as singing and any other thing that you want to pursue?

India Carney: "That's a good question. I am super grateful for this experience on The Voice because it's not only a great platform for singers, but it's really giving me the inside look on what a career as a singer would be like. That's an experience that I don't know how many people get to get before they reach that spot. This has been an incredible learning experience and I definitely hope that the exposure from this will lead to something else."

She continues, "It's perfect timing because I'm graduating so I will be free in just a matter of weeks. I hope to use this opportunity to get connected with labels and pursue my recording career. My future goals will always be revolving around music whether it's singing or song writing or in musical theater."

Star Connor: How does it feel to be still in the game?

India Carney: "It's surreal to still be here. You know, I went through being on the bottom two times in a row. I didn't know if I was going to make it out this past time and that was God that got me through those extra votes. I'm so thankful to still be here and have at least another week to sing and to learn from Christina and to learn from everyone involved with the show."
